Business Masterclass with Colfe’s
On Monday 22 November, Year 9 students from Conisborough College and Colfe’s Independant School worked together on a Hospitality and Catering Masterclass at the Hilton Hotel in Canary Wharf.
After making their way up to Canary Wharf on the Dockland Light Railway, students meet up with our business delegates from Colfe’s in a rather impressive conference suite and set to work collaboratively in groups to create a Cyber Café for the 2012 Olympic Games.
We learned how to plan and manage a business and create a financial plan. Throughout the day, we worked to our strengths in creating an advertisement; deciding on a name, a slogan and a unique selling point. Finally we had to present our business ideas to a panel of judges.
In third place came the ‘Slow & Steady Torts’, then in secon place was ‘Achieving Eagles’ and in first place came the ‘Flying Lions’ – which consisted of Barbara, Maria and Holly from Conisborough and Tom and Seb from Colfe’s.
Miss Barclay them awarded students a spot prize for the best dress and they were; Holly (again), Spencer, Khamar, Alex, Tom and Chris.
In all, it was a fantastic experience because we learned business skills, how to be enterprising and dress to impress! We worked well in our teams in a real business environment. Well done to all the students who participated.
