Technology Department Welcomes Kojo Boateng

This term, the Technology department had a special visit from Mr Kojo Boateng, who is the Director of Design at ITN News.

Mr Boateng spoke to our Year 10 students about Design and Technology at the ITN studios and what is involved in his day to day working life. He also spoke about the industry as a whole and what different career paths are available within the industry.

Technology Department Welcomes Kojo Boateng

This term, the Technology department had a special visit from Mr Kojo Boateng, who is the Director of Design at ITN News.

Mr Boateng spoke to our Year 10 students about Design and Technology at the ITN studios and what is involved in his day to day working life. He also spoke about the industry as a whole and what different career paths are available within the industry.

Mr Boateng explained the fantastic career opportunities available for students who are passionate about subjects, like Graphics, Textiles and Product Design.

Before he got the job as Director of Design, Mr Boateng studied Art and Design as a Degree option, which led to him exploring photography, computer aided design (CAD) and styling, (stage sets and photo shoots).  Then he did a Masters degree in Graphics and has been the Director of the Design Studio for ITN News ever since.  Mr Boateng expressed a passion for the arts and creativity which has never disappeared. 

Finally, Year 10 Graphics students were honoured enough to have their work assessed by Mr Boateng in order to gauged the progress needed to gain a higher grade for their coursework. 

This visit will now be followed up with a trip to the ITN Graphics Studios to get a real feel of how Graphics is used in the print and electronic media  and possibly a graphics work experience placement in the near future.
