Back in May of 2010, Year 8 students began work on an exciting new project in their Art lessons.  The Thames Tapestry project involves the use of textiles skills, such as embroidery, appliqué, beading, weaving and stitching.

the students are to make a one metre tapestry panel, depicting an illustrated narrative, based on the story of the life and death of Christopher Marlowe.

Marlow was the now world famous play-write who lived, worked and was actually murdered in Deptford.  Was it a jealous argument over a woman? Was it because he was too close to the government and knew too much? Or was his death faked only later for him to re-emerge as William Shakespeare??

The finished tapestry will be put together with the other panels produced by around 240 other schools taking part and will be displayed along the banks of the Thames throughout the London 2012 Olympics.
