On 24 February, fifty of our Year 10 Business Studies students took part in a ‘Speak Out’ workshop, sponsored by Jack Petchey.
The day started with the students learning about the techniques of public speaking. The programme was very interactive, students had the chance to speak several times, learning how to think quickly and finding out how to prepare and deliver a speech.
They also gave feedback to each other on how to improve their presentations. At the end of the workshop, all the students participated in a competition and gave their speeches.
Our two finalists, Irene Dongwe and Catarina Da Silva, will represent the school on Friday 4 May in the Regional Finals where 26 other students will compete for the Lewisham Speakout Championship.
