Sandhurst_and_Rushey_Green_second_set_of_Photos_1Puzzle Day

On Thursday 23 February, our Year 7 Gifted and Talented group teamed up with students in Years 4 and 5 from Sandhurst, Torridon and Rushey Green primary schools.

The day was led by Josh from the Happy Puzzle Company.  Each group of about five, were given a series of floor based puzzle challenges, aimed at stretching their ability to work as a group and their belief that nothing is impossible providing you maintain an attitude to ‘never give up’.

Each student worked extremely well, proving that you can have fun while learning.  We would like to thank our feeder primary schools who took part and supported this event, and the Happy Puzzle Company for delivering the session and making it an enjoyable experience!

Year 7 comments:

“Josh showed us a puzzle that looked impossible but he completed it and showed us how he did it.  Josh then gave us three puzzles to do. One of the puzzles involved having to make a T shape with some orange pieces.  Another one was to make  a square with some blue pieces and balance lots of different sticks with different coloured balls on the sticks.  Josh told us 3 important rules to remember.

    1. Teamwork
    2. Nothing is impossible
    3. Never give up.

Torridon_Puzzle_Day_5“We did lots more puzzles, one after another.  They were hard, but Josh and the teachers helped us.  It was really fun working as a team with the younger students and the puzzles were fun too!” – Arthur Brito 7A

“The day has really taught me that puzzles don’t have to be impossible and that you can do it with or without clues.  The message I got from the day was that any age groups can work together as a team and that everyone should participate in all the activities and no one should be left out. Josh told us that you shouldn’t give up and I don’t think anyone did.” – Esmerelda Smajlaj 7F
