ORION’s Medieval Workshop Reward
On Tuesday 28 February, Ms Neil and Mrs Hatch arranged for 120 Year 8 students to take part in a ‘Living Through History Workshop’.
Each workshop consisted of 30 Year 8 students. We were shown medieval clothing, jewellery and quills (the things they used to write with). The workshop was an Orion Faculty reward for our academic success in History.
I really enjoyed using a quill pen and it was great seeing some of the artefacts first hand. I would have liked to handle all of the items, but due to their age they were fragile and unfortunately we were unable to touch them.
There was also a prize for the best drawing and the winner was Cameron Wyke – 8A, congratulations to him.
We all got to make medieval coins and keep them as a reminder of the work shop. I hope we get the opportunity to take part in this workshop again in Year 9, because it was fun and educational at the same time.
